Opening Paragraph from story.

An Engaging Encounter In today’s secular culture, it is not every day that you meet a young college student seeking a husband who will live by the teachings of Humanae Vitae. So from the beginning of our courtship, I knew my fiancée was the right gal for me. There was only one problem: while she wholeheartedly embraced the Church’s teaching on human life and sexual morality, she herself was not Catholic. Nor did she have any intention of becoming Catholic or exploring the Catholic faith.

A few words from Pete
The Blessed Mother has always played an important role in my life. Not only did she help me discern my vocation in life as a lay canonist, but along with St. Joseph and Our Lord she provides the perfect model of family. In today's culture, where divorce and contraception undermine the family, we must turn to the Blessed Mother for her gentle protection and intercession.

As the youngest canon lawyer in North America, I feel strongly inspired by Pope Paul VI's vision of the culture of life in Humanae Vitae. As well, Pope John Paul II inspires us as Catholics toward a renewal of of the family in Familiaris Consortio. I thank God every day for blessing me with a wonderful wife who shares this same vision when it comes to the family. Of course, our Blessed Mother is indispensable to this renewal.

One of our favorite activities as a family is working with the mentally and the cognitively challenged. We do this with the International Order of Alhambra, a Catholic family organization devoted to serving and befriending Mary's special children. For while the world rejects them as different, they are truly our brothers and sisters in Christ -- icons of God's unconditional love.
